Michael Gledhill, 44, stood nearly still as officers took him into custody Wednesday morning after he flagged them down and confessed to fatally stabbing actor James Handy at a Tarzana home minutes earlier, NY Post Metro reports.

New footage obtained by TMZ shows Gledhill — with long, scraggly dark hair and wearing a long-sleeve shirt and pants — barely moving as police detained him.

Handy was found unconscious at the scene, bleeding from multiple stab wounds to the chest. He was the boyfriend of Gledhill's mother, Wendy Gledhill, 76.

Wendy told The Post she was devastated by the killing. "I'm just trying to make it through one day at a time, a minute at a time," she said Thursday morning outside her home. "I loved James and my son. I still can't believe it… I can't believe my son did it," she added before stepping back inside.

Wendy also disclosed that Michael had been prescribed medication for paranoia but had stopped taking it approximately one week before the fatal stabbing.

A neighbor who had a prior interaction with a family member described Michael to The California Post as paranoid, adding that they believed he had a history of mental health issues.

Handy's acting career stretched back to the 1970s, and he had accumulated nearly 150 credits on IMDb. His roles included appearances in "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Jumanji," as well as recurring and guest parts in television series such as "The West Wing," "9-1-1," "NCIS: Los Angeles," "CSI: NY," "The Young and the Restless," "Castle," "Criminal Minds," "Cold Case," "Without a Trace," "ER," "The X-Files," and "Mulaney."
