Slovak Woman Fled US After Cuban Actor Husband Surveilled Her Despite Restraining Order
Broňa Gregušová, a 34-year-old Slovak national, endured years of alleged abuse during her marriage to Cuban actor Mario Cimarro, 55, known for his role in the telenovela Skrytá vášeň. The couple began their relationship in 2018, later marrying in secret and welcoming a daughter, Briana. What appeared to outsiders as a fairytale romance concealed a pattern of violence that escalated behind closed doors, Plus JEDEN DEŇ reported.
In September 2025, Gregušová publicly disclosed the breakdown of her marriage, revealing details of domestic violence, financial difficulties, and an ongoing court battle with Cimarro. Police intervention eventually led to the actor’s arrest, and a court issued a protective order barring him from approaching his wife.
However, the restraining order did not end the intimidation. Gregušová revealed that her husband continued to monitor her through surveillance cameras installed at their shared residence, where she remained with their daughter until the lease expired. The surveillance extended beyond exterior cameras to include devices placed inside the home. Cimarro’s sister also participated in overseeing Gregušová’s movements, adding another layer of control.
After months of legal proceedings, a US court granted Gregušová permission to leave the country. She has since returned to Slovakia with her daughter. Together with her sister Lucia, she is now sharing further details about life with her former partner through their podcast, Sisters Unmasked.
The case highlights how digital surveillance tools can be weaponized to extend coercive control even after formal legal protections are put in place.
