A woman was found shot dead inside a residential property in the 2400-block of 175th Street in Homewood, Illinois, on Saturday afternoon, abc7chicago.com reports.

Homewood police officers were dispatched shortly before 1:45 p.m. following a report of an unresponsive female at the address. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman of unknown age who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her identity had not been released.

The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force have opened a homicide investigation into the incident.

Investigators consider the shooting an isolated incident and said there is no known threat to the broader public.
