Second Body Found in Fresno Canal Linked to Homicide Case

Second Body Recovered From Fresno Canal as Homicide Investigation Widens
A second set of human remains has been pulled from a canal in southwest Fresno, deepening an already complex homicide investigation, NY Post Metro reports. The discovery raises fresh questions about the fate of a man missing since May 10 and the scope of violence in a case that has unsettled the city for weeks.
The Fresno Irrigation District alerted police Tuesday after spotting what appeared to be human remains caught against a concrete barrier near Glenn and Webster avenues. Officers responded alongside crews from Fresno Fire, the Fresno Sheriff's Department, and American Ambulance, and recovered the body of an adult from the water. Investigators said the remains appeared to have been in the canal for an extended period.
Authorities have not yet identified the individual and have not confirmed whether the death is linked to the ongoing homicide case.
The canal is part of the same waterway where 50-year-old Georgiana McGhee was found on May 10, near Neilson and Hughes avenues — approximately 4.5 miles from Tuesday's discovery. McGhee's death was subsequently ruled a homicide.
Police arrested 48-year-old Boshay Ware in connection with her killing. At a recent press conference, Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto described the violence as targeted rather than random.
"These people all knew each other. It wasn't random. It wasn't a street encounter. These individuals were all associates," Casto said.
Casto said McGhee was severely beaten before Ware placed her in the canal. A second victim, 55-year-old Jerome Saldivar, was attacked during the same incident and has not been seen since May 10.
"Georgiana was severely beaten before being placed in the canal by Boshay Ware, and also, Saldivar, Jerome Saldivar, was severely beaten," Casto said.
Authorities have been unable to locate Saldivar and fear he may be dead or critically injured. "We are still unable to locate Jerome Saldivar. We know that he is injured, possibly deceased or in need of help," Casto said.
Investigators believe a dispute involving an RV trailer registered to Saldivar may have triggered the violence around the time he disappeared. Casto added that Ware's criminal background does not include prior violent offenses.
"Interestingly, Boshay Ware does not have an extensive criminal history. He has a conviction for a disturbance and some type of maltreatment of animals, and some property crimes. But no previous violent crime history," Casto said.
While the newly recovered remains were found in the same canal system tied to McGhee's killing, investigators have not established a confirmed connection between the two discoveries.
