BALTIMORE, United States — Federal immigration officers in Maryland have apprehended a Jamaican national who had previously been found guilty of first-degree homicide.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Baltimore office announced the arrest of Frederick Muir, describing him as a criminal foreign national from Jamaica. The agency stated that Muir was transferred into their custody from Jessup Correctional Facility through an immigration detainer.
According to ICE, Muir had already received a final deportation order and will stay in detention while authorities proceed with removal proceedings.
The case highlights ongoing cooperation between state correctional facilities and federal immigration enforcement in handling non-citizens convicted of serious violent offenses.
