Tire shop employee shot dead in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico; customer wounded
A tire shop employee was killed by gunfire Friday night in the Dos Bocas neighborhood of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. The victim was identified as 41-year-old Alexis Polanco Amparo, a Dominican national.
According to preliminary reports from local outlets, gunmen opened fire on the business from a moving vehicle while Polanco Amparo was working. A female customer who was waiting to be served was also struck by the gunfire. Authorities stated that her condition is stable.
The deceased had a prior criminal record for forging licenses, certificates, and other documentation. During a raid on his residence, law enforcement seized an illegal firearm and a large amount of cash. Given these findings, investigators are not ruling out a possible connection to drug trafficking as a motive for the killing.
The Criminal Investigations Corps of Carolina has taken charge of the probe to determine the circumstances surrounding the homicide and identify the perpetrators.
