Indianapolis 2025: A running record of homicides across the city
IndyStar.com is maintaining a live tracker of homicides in Indianapolis to document the scale and patterns of violence across the city. The list is updated on a rolling basis using data from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), the coroner's office, court records, and interviews with victims' families.
May 30 — Brett Scrogham, 23
Brett Scrogham, 23, died on May 30, two days after being shot at a downtown parking garage at 101 S. Capitol Ave. Police were called at approximately 6:10 p.m. on May 28. A person was detained in connection with the incident and subsequently released.
May 28 — Patricia Wieber, 65
At around 8:18 p.m., officers responded to 36 N. Rural Street and found a woman with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. The coroner's office identified her as Patricia Wieber, 65. A 75-year-old suspect was taken into custody following a police chase that ended with officers shooting the suspect.
May 27 — Unidentified man, east side
A man shot on April 22 in the 200 block of South German Church Road died on May 27 at a rehabilitation facility where he had been recovering from his injuries. No suspects were announced.
May 24 — Jamell Williams, 16
At 7:45 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 5700 block of Renn Lane and found Jamell Williams, 16, with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
May 24 — Za'Sean Davis, 29
Just after 4 a.m., officers were called to the 1700 block of James Run Way, where they found Za'Sean Davis, 29, shot inside a vehicle. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. An arrest in the case was announced in the early hours of May 26.
May 24 — Gregory Montrez Anderson, 32
Shortly after 3 a.m., police found two men and a woman shot near 100 S. Meridian Street. The coroner identified one of the men as Gregory Montrez Anderson, 32. He died after being taken to hospital in critical condition.
May 20 — Armonty Haddix, 17
Just before 9 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Iowa Street in the Old Southside neighbourhood. Two juveniles were found with gunshot wounds and taken to hospital in critical condition. Armonty Haddix, 17, died at the hospital. No suspects were immediately announced.
May 14 — Joshua Thompson, 30
At around 6:25 p.m., police were called to the Budget 8 Inn at 6850 E. 21st St. after reports of a shooting. Joshua Thompson, 30, was found shot and was taken to hospital in critical condition before being pronounced dead. A person was questioned and released following consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.
May 12 and May 16 — Hayden Devere De Los Santos, 19, and Angela Mitchell, 48
At 2:42 p.m. on May 12, police responded to a stabbing in the 3200 block of South Lockburn Street in the Mars Hill neighbourhood. Officers found four people stabbed — two women and a man outside a residence and another man inside. Hayden Devere De Los Santos, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said on May 13 that De Los Santos is believed to have died from a self-inflicted injury, though the coroner's office stated his death remains "pending investigation." One of the women taken to hospital in critical condition, Angela Mitchell, 48, died on May 16 at Eskenazi Hospital. Police described the incident as an isolated event.
May 10 — Darren Lashan McMiller, 58
Just after 11 p.m., officers found Darren Lashan McMiller, 58, outside an apartment complex in the 7900 block of Red Mill Drive with gunshot injuries. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arriving. A 63-year-old suspect was taken into custody.
May 9 — Jaivias Shandice Wilson, 23
At 11:59 p.m., police were called to the 7000 block of East 10th Street, where they found Jaivias Shandice Wilson, 23, shot on a footpath. He was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. A person at the scene was detained by IMPD.
May 5 — Izaak Garcia, 26
At 10:22 p.m., officers responded to shots fired near East 11th Street and North College Avenue, where a man was found wounded and taken to hospital. Police linked the incident to a separate shooting in the 1000 block of North Emerson Avenue, where Izaak Garcia, 26, was found in critical condition and later pronounced dead. Police described the shooting as "an isolated" case. No arrests were immediately announced.
May 5 — Cornell Deshaun Davis, 37
At 9 p.m., officers found Cornell Deshaun Davis, 37, shot inside a home in the 6000 block of Windsor Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A person was detained and later released after the Marion County Prosecutor's Office was consulted.
May 3 — Brittany Marie Members, 38
Just before 1 a.m., police received multiple 911 calls about a shooting at a home in the 4000 block of North Park Avenue, where a post-prom party was taking place. Brittany Marie Members, 38, was found shot and taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead. Two other people subsequently arrived at Methodist Hospital with gunshot wounds.
