A man working at a tire repair shop in Trujillo Alto was gunned down Friday evening in a drive-by attack that also left a female customer wounded, according to Telemundo Puerto Rico.
The shooting occurred at approximately 7:08 p.m. inside a gomera located in the Dos Bocas neighborhood. Investigators said the assailants opened fire from a moving vehicle as the victim was servicing customers. A woman who was waiting to be assisted sustained injuries during the assault and was rushed to a hospital, where medical personnel listed her condition as stable.
Law enforcement officials confirmed the deceased was an employee of the establishment and a Dominican national. Authorities have not publicly identified him, though they disclosed he had a prior criminal record.
The case took an additional turn when police searched the victim's home and seized an unlicensed handgun along with a substantial quantity of money. That discovery has prompted detectives to explore whether the homicide is tied to illegal drug activity.
The Criminal Investigations Corps (Cuerpo de Investigaciones Criminales) in Carolina is leading the ongoing inquiry.
