Jamaican woman's death at Myrtle Beach home ruled homicide

Myrtlebeachonline.com reports that police are investigating the death of 33-year-old Jeneil Leon, originally from Jamaica, whose body was discovered at a residence in the 2000 block of Greens Boulevard in Myrtle Beach on 21 July.

Officers had been dispatched to the address for a welfare check. Upon arrival, they found Leon deceased with a gunshot wound, according to an email from the Horry County Coroner's Office.

The case has since been designated a homicide. In a Facebook post published Monday, Myrtle Beach Police stated that new evidence gathered during the investigation led to that classification. A person of interest has also been identified, the post said.

The coroner's office confirmed that Leon was originally from Jamaica.

The investigation is ongoing.
