Officers in High Point, North Carolina took a 44-year-old man into custody after he showed up at a church parking lot carrying multiple weapons and a large quantity of ammunition, according to a Fox News report based on local police statements.
The call came in on Sunday about an armed individual sitting in a vehicle at Wesley Memorial Church. The caller noted the suspect wore camouflage clothing and appeared to have weapons on him. An off-duty officer who happened to be at the location spotted the man right away. Within minutes, additional units arrived and placed him under arrest.
A search of the suspect’s pickup truck revealed two flamethrowers, two crossbows, more than 500 rounds of ammo, a roll of black duct tape, three knives, pills, and a CO₂-powered launcher resembling a handgun. Investigators also found a notebook listing addresses and GPS coordinates for churches, schools, and public buildings.
William S. Milliken now faces charges including possession of weapons of mass destruction and controlled substances. He remains held at a local jail. High Point Police Chief Curtis Cheeks expressed relief that officers intercepted the suspect before anyone could be harmed.
