Gunfire erupted on East 19th Street in Kansas City late Saturday evening, leaving one person dead and five others wounded. The incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. local time, according to authorities.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered two injured women and an unconscious man. Medical personnel were unable to revive the male victim, who was later identified as 29-year-old David E. Beck III. Shortly afterward, three additional wounded individuals arrived at hospitals seeking treatment. One of them remains in critical condition.

Investigators believe the victims were standing together in a group on the street when several armed assailants opened fire on them. Authorities are currently interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. No suspects have been taken into custody at this time.

The shooting happened only about 11 kilometers from Arrowhead Stadium, which will serve as one of the venues for the 2026 football World Cup. Kansas City has already deployed an unprecedented police presence throughout the city as part of security preparations for the tournament.
