A 29-year-old man was left in critical condition early Tuesday after being stabbed at an apartment complex on the 3200 block of McMichael Street in Philadelphia's East Falls neighbourhood, nbcphiladelphia.com reports.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 3:53 a.m. and found the victim suffering from stab wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was placed in critical condition, according to police.

At the same location, a 22-year-old woman was taken into custody. Charges against her are pending. Police did not immediately provide details on a motive, though an investigation remains ongoing.

Second stabbing in West Oak Lane overnight

In a separate incident the same night, officers were called to a home along the 7200 block of North 21st Street in West Oak Lane at around 1 a.m. A 26-year-old woman was found with stab wounds and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

Police did not release further details on that incident and did not confirm whether any arrests had been made. That investigation is also ongoing.
