A 32-year-old man was fatally shot in a parking lot on the 7600 block of Pacific Avenue in Stockton in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, recordnet.com reports.

Officers from the Stockton Police Department were called to the scene at 5:09 a.m., behind a Michaels store. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Homicide detectives responded to assist with the investigation. By around 9 a.m., yellow crime scene tape cordoned off a large section of the parking lot, with police vehicles blocking access to the area.

Evidence technicians were examining a white Kia Soul parked in front of the Barking Lot Pet Styling salon — the only vehicle within the taped-off perimeter.

As of Tuesday morning, no suspect information was available, according to police.
