Fake Uber Driver Convicted of Rape After Abducting San Francisco Woman From Club

Jury Convicts Man Who Posed as Uber Driver and Raped Sleeping Passenger
A San Francisco jury has convicted a 44-year-old man of raping a woman he abducted after posing as her Uber driver, the city's District Attorney's office announced Friday, according to NY Post Metro.
Yucel Eryilmaz picked up two sisters outside a club in the Mission District in October 2025. The women entered his vehicle believing it was their pre-arranged late-night ride. During the trip, Eryilmaz allegedly attempted to kiss the sister seated in the front, who rejected his advances.
When the car reached the sisters' destination, the front-seat passenger stepped out. Before she could rouse her sister in the back, Eryilmaz drove off with the sleeping woman still inside, prosecutors said.
The sister who escaped immediately called 9-1-1, but had no way to track the vehicle or reach her sibling, who had no phone on her.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage showing Eryilmaz pulling into his apartment building's parking garage, leaving the driver's seat, and entering the back of the car with the unconscious victim. He locked the doors with both of them inside.
Several hours later, the victim woke up "scared and confused" to find Eryilmaz on top of her. She told him "no" as he held her arms down, biting and kissing her neck. She managed to break free, and after approximately ten minutes, Eryilmaz allowed her to use his phone to call her sister.
Through that call, she learned that police were already searching for her. She fled Eryilmaz's apartment and contacted her sister again to arrange help.
The jury returned guilty verdicts on two felony counts: rape of an unconscious person and assault with intent to commit rape. Eryilmaz remains in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 18. He could face more than a decade in prison.
San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins credited the survivor for her role in securing the conviction. "The jury's verdict holds Mr. Eryilmaz accountable for his crimes," Jenkins said. "I would like to thank the survivor for her courage in coming forward and working with my office through a challenging court process to get justice."
Assistant District Attorney Abigail Adams also praised the victim, commending her "for her bravery, authenticity and vulnerability while she relived these terrifying events during her testimony."
The DA's office additionally recognized victim advocates and the Special Victims Unit of the San Francisco Police Department for their work on the investigation.
