A 29-year-old motorist in Ohio allegedly slammed into the back of a young woman's car while she waited at a traffic signal, killing her, after consuming a cocktail of intoxicants and then driving from an adult entertainment venue toward a 24-hour restaurant chain.
Donald A. Goff III is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular homicide, and operating a vehicle while impaired after the July 5 crash in the village of New Miami, according to Law & Crime.
The collision occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the junction of Main Street and State Route 129. Goff was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup when he struck a Chevrolet Cruze occupied by 19-year-old Alivia M. Lewis. The impact pushed the smaller car forward approximately 100 feet, police said.
Lewis was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead. Goff was not injured in the crash.
When officers arrived, they noted Goff exhibited signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He told police he had been at a strip club and was heading to Waffle House when the crash occurred. He admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana earlier that evening, according to the police report.
Laboratory testing later revealed the presence of alcohol, methamphetamine, and MDMA in Goff's system at the time of the crash. He was booked into the Butler County Jail and is being held on $500,000 bond.
