A man was killed late Saturday when his roommate discharged a firearm during a confrontation at their shared residence on Vassar Street.

A shared living arrangement turned deadly late Saturday in Houston when one occupant used a firearm against the other inside their residence.

Officers were summoned to the 1600 block of Vassar Street in the city's South Central district at approximately 11:55 p.m. Upon entering the dwelling, they discovered a male who had sustained a penetrating wound to his torso. Emergency responders from the Houston Fire Department arrived and pronounced the individual deceased at the location.

Investigators determined that the person who fired the weapon and the deceased were cohabitants who had been on friendly terms. The precise circumstances that precipitated the violence remain under examination.

"One thing or another transpired tonight to where the suspect took out a firearm and shot the victim in the chest one time," HPD Lt. Ali stated while at the scene.

The alleged shooter was apprehended and taken into custody.
