A 21-year-old man wanted on an active Florida warrant was taken into custody Monday at Cyril E. King Airport in the U.S. Virgin Islands, fox35orlando.com reports, after authorities linked him to a violent theft in Orlando earlier this month.

Abijah Antonio Javois was identified by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers during a routine inspection at the airport. Florida authorities had issued a warrant through the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orange County, and Javois was subsequently extradited to Florida to face charges.

The case stems from a November 10 incident in Orlando, where Javois allegedly used prop money — counterfeit bills — to steal a $115,000 Richard Mille watch from a seller. When the victim realized what had happened, a pursuit followed through the streets of Orlando.

During that chase, Javois allegedly produced an AR-style rifle and opened fire on the victim and his companion. The victim was struck by gunshots in the jaw and shoulder, sustaining non-life-threatening wounds.

Investigators collected substantial evidence, including footage captured by the victim's Tesla, which recorded both the transaction and part of the shooting. Surveillance video and witness statements also supported the case.

Javois faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, aggravated battery, and theft.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office credited a coordinated effort between U.S. Virgin Islands and Florida law enforcement as key to the arrest, describing the outcome as an example of cross-jurisdiction partnerships apprehending fugitives who cross state or territorial lines.
