In the message, the perpetrators reportedly apologized, stating her death was not intentional. The content was revealed by CNN, citing a law enforcement source.

Nancy Guthrie is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, a host on NBC's The Today Show. The first letter demanded a ransom for her safe return. Authorities and the family had repeatedly warned that Nancy was in poor health and lacked necessary medication.

In February, investigators asked media not to publish the contents of the second letter until its authenticity could be verified. In March, the TV host confirmed that the family considered the first two letters genuine, as reported by the BBC.

The Pima County Sheriff's Office, which is leading the investigation, stated that the case remains active. Reporters with questions about the letters were referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

More than 20 weeks have passed since Nancy Guthrie was reported missing. Authorities have not yet determined what happened to her or where she is located.
