The Federal Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Estonian national team basketball player in connection with a sports betting fraud investigation. Kerr Kriisa, 25, was taken into custody in Lexington, Kentucky, and is expected to be transferred to West Virginia for court proceedings.
Kriisa is suspected of involvement in a betting-related fraud scheme. According to New York Post and other American media outlets, the alleged incidents occurred during his time as a player at West Virginia University in the 2023–2024 season.
The 25-year-old point guard has played in American college basketball from 2020 to 2026, representing the universities of Arizona, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Cincinnati. On the international stage, he has served as playmaker for the Estonian national team, including in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Finland.
Kriisa had been planning to return to his home country for the upcoming season, where he was set to play for a team in Tartu in the Estonian league.
