U.S. federal authorities detained the Tate brothers in Miami following a British arrest warrant; UK prosecutors seek extradition on rape and human-trafficking charges.

U.S. federal agents took Andrew and Tristan Tate into custody in Miami on Saturday. Brady McCarron, a spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals Service, confirmed to the Associated Press that the brothers were arrested under a warrant from British authorities. Prosecutors in the United Kingdom said they will request the extradition of the siblings, who hold dual British and American citizenship.

The Crown Prosecution Service alleges that between 2010 and 2017 the pair raped women and engaged in human trafficking for sexual exploitation. A court has not yet determined their guilt. Beyond previously disclosed accusations, prosecutors approved 38 additional charges involving four more alleged victims. Both men are charged with rape and human trafficking. Separate counts against Andrew Tate include profiting from prostitution, possessing indecent images of children, and extreme pornographic material.

British prosecutors had already approved 21 charges against the brothers in 2025. Andrew Tate faces ten counts connected to three women, while Tristan Tate faces eleven counts related to one purported victim.

In Romania, police arrested the pair in December 2022 and later charged them with rape, human trafficking, and running a criminal group for sexual exploitation. That case remains stalled by legal and procedural issues, and in April 2026 a Romanian court ended preventive supervision measures for the brothers.

Andrew and Tristan Tate reject all allegations. Their U.S. lawyer, Joseph McBride, described the British case as politically motivated and asserted the siblings would go free once a judge examines the matter.
