Fox6now.com reports that five people were shot near 37th and Kiley in Milwaukee on Saturday, March 21, shortly after 11 a.m. One of them, a 25-year-old man, died from his injuries.

The four surviving victims were aged 20, 21, 29 and 29. All five were transported to hospital for treatment. The 25-year-old was pronounced dead at the facility.

On Monday, March 23, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased as Simeon Calvert.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an argument. Milwaukee police are currently seeking an unknown shooter.

Neighbors described taking cover as the gunfire erupted. "The gunshots were, like, ongoing," said India Grenada, a resident of the area. A second neighbor said: "I hit the floor, I had to because it was too close to home."

Some witnesses declined to appear on camera, citing safety concerns. They told reporters that shootings in the area are becoming more frequent — and the data supports that. At least seven shootings have occurred in the neighborhood since January 2025. Less than two weeks before Saturday's incident, a man, a woman and her unborn child were shot and killed just down the block, near Teutonia and Green Tree.

Grenada said the ongoing violence is affecting daily life. "It makes me feel, like, unease within. Because we have a lot of children, and we should be role models for them and for this to keep happening like that, it just makes people fear to even bring their kids out and play and be themselves," she said.
