A female police officer is accused of shooting and injuring a 22-year-old woman during an incident reported Friday afternoon in the La Fe neighborhood of Naguabo, Puerto Rico.

According to preliminary information obtained by Telemundo Puerto Rico, the two women had been involved in an argument prior to the shooting.

The victim had to be airlifted by ambulance to the Centro Médico for treatment. Medical officials indicated her condition is stable.

The Special Investigations Bureau (NIE, by its Spanish acronym) has joined the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
