Woman Who Attacked Pregnant Driver in Carolina Ordered to Stand Trial

Prosecutors in Puerto Rico have filed misdemeanor charges against a woman who allegedly assaulted a pregnant motorist during a road-rage confrontation in Carolina on Saturday night.

The suspect, identified as Tasharelys Escalera, is charged with assault, breach of the peace, and property damage. Because these are lesser offenses, no bail was set, and she is scheduled for trial on July 20.

According to the complainant's account shared on social media, the incident began around 8:40 p.m. as she was changing lanes with her turn signal on. At that point, another driver began honking at her repeatedly.

The other motorist then stopped her vehicle, exited while armed with what appeared to be a sharp object, and struck the victim's car. The assailant shouted insults and tried to open the victim's door.

When the attacker attempted to leave the scene, the victim called the police and blocked her path. The situation escalated further when the suspect allegedly rammed the victim's vehicle multiple times and then struck her in the face, causing her cell phone to fall to the ground.

The victim told the aggressor that she was pregnant, but the woman remained enraged and continued making threats. The suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, had two minors with her in the vehicle.

She fled before officers arrived. The victim filed a complaint and stated she would seek medical attention for abdominal pain following the incident.
