cbs6albany.com reports that 42-year-old Cole Bushnell is facing a single count of murder following the discovery of a body in Ashley Falls, a community within Sheffield, Massachusetts.

The Berkshire State Police Detective Unit was alerted by the Sheffield Police Department at around 1:34 p.m. on Monday after a suspected homicide was reported in the area. The initial tip came from a witness who told Connecticut State Police that a body had been found on Polikoff Road. Connecticut authorities then passed the information to Sheffield police, who attended the scene and confirmed the discovery before notifying the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit.

Bushnell was not present when law enforcement first arrived. At 5:23 p.m., however, he returned to the crime scene and was taken into custody. Investigators said it remained unclear whether he came back to surrender or for another reason.

Bushnell is scheduled to be arraigned at Great Barrington District Court. The case is being handled by the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.
