New Jersey Man Arrested After Sexual Contact with Teen in Red Hook

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Rhinebeck reported that on 1 June 2026, officers were notified of a possible sex offence involving a juvenile at a private residence in the Town of Red Hook.

According to troopers.ny.gov, an investigation established that Joseph D. Hand, 20, of West Milford, New Jersey, had sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl after the two connected via Snapchat.

Hand was arrested and charged with Sexual Misconduct and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both Class A misdemeanours. He was arraigned in the Town of Red Hook Court and released under probation supervision.

Hand is scheduled to appear before the Town of Red Hook Court on 23 July 2026. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

The New York State Police acknowledged the assistance of the Town of Red Hook Police Department in carrying out the investigation.
