Norfolk Police charge James Davis, 47, over attempted abduction of two women

Norfolk Police have charged a 47-year-old Chesapeake man after two women were approached in separate incidents on 4 June. The suspect remains at large.

Norfolk Police are seeking public assistance in locating James R. Davis, 47, of Chesapeake, following an attempted abduction investigation involving two separate incidents in downtown Norfolk on 4 June, according to norfolk.gov.

Officers were first dispatched to the 200 block of Yarmouth Street at approximately 1:10 p.m., after a woman reported being approached by an unknown man while walking in the area. Around ten minutes later, at 1:20 p.m., a second call was received from another woman who reported a similar approach by a man while she was walking in the Downtown Norfolk neighbourhood.

No injuries were reported in connection with either incident.

Following the investigation, detectives charged Davis with brandishing a firearm, attempted malicious wounding, two counts of use of a firearm, possession or transportation of firearms, abduction, and robbery. Davis has not yet been located.

Anyone with information on Davis' whereabouts is asked to contact Norfolk Police directly or submit an anonymous tip to Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP, or via the P3Tips mobile app.

Residents are also encouraged to register security cameras with Connect Norfolk, a programme that supports active police investigations and efforts to locate missing persons.
