Law enforcement officers carried out a raid Tuesday at the Luis Del Carmen Echevarría public housing complex in Gurabo, Puerto Rico, recovering narcotics and a firearm.

The operation was conducted by agents assigned to the Police Division of Narcotics. It formed part of broader efforts led by Police Superintendent Joseph González to address a wave of violent incidents that have recently affected the Caguas police district.

During the search, investigators located a Glock model 19 handgun chambered in 9 millimeters. Authorities believe the weapon had been modified so it could fire in fully automatic mode.

In addition to the pistol, officers confiscated three magazines, sixty-seven rounds of ammunition, forty-five decks of fentanyl, thirty-eight capsules of crack cocaine, twenty-five bags of cocaine, seven bags of marijuana, and eighteen dollars in cash.

The recovered items will be presented to the Caguas Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation and formal forfeiture proceedings, according to the Police.
