Authorities in Portland took a 30-year-old man into custody following a domestic disturbance in which a female relative was stabbed and another family member was hurt.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at a residence along the 16000 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. North Precinct officers were dispatched after a report that a woman had been attacked by a relative inside the home.
Responding officers managed to extract the victim and other relatives from the dwelling without further violence. The primary victim was transported to a nearby hospital with significant injuries that were not expected to be fatal. A second relative sustained lesser wounds that were also not life-threatening.
After securing the area, officers used a loudspeaker to urge the suspect to exit. He eventually came out on his own and was apprehended peacefully.
Jonathan A. Pete, 30, was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center. He faces allegations including first-degree assault in a domestic setting, two counts of menacing involving domestic violence, attempted second-degree assault in a domestic setting, two weapons violations, and several outstanding warrants.
The Portland Police Bureau highlighted that incidents of domestic violence continue to rank among the most common and severe violent offenses investigated by its personnel.
