Michigan Parents Charged With Murder After 7-Year-Old Son Dies From Obesity-Related Neglect
A couple in Michigan faces second-degree murder charges after their seven-year-old son died from complications linked to severe obesity and long-term neglect. The boy passed away in November 2025, weighing approximately 115 kilograms. According to reports from American media outlets, the cause of death was an enlarged and weakened heart.
The child, who was non-verbal, did not attend school and was bedridden. Prosecutors allege that the parents failed to provide adequate food for the boy and did not seek medical care for him. The indictment also includes charges of torture and three counts of child abuse. One of the abuse charges involves the boy's sister.
If convicted, the parents could face life in prison.
