A young Chesapeake resident died after sustaining multiple bullet injuries on Providence Road. Officers found the victim Saturday evening near an apartment complex. He was transported to a medical facility but did not survive.

A young man from Chesapeake succumbed to injuries after being struck by bullets on Saturday, according to local law enforcement.

The victim, aged 20, was located in the 900 block of Providence Road during the early evening hours. Officers had been dispatched to the scene following reports of discharged firearms. Upon arrival, they discovered the individual suffering from several wounds caused by gunfire.

Emergency personnel rushed him to a nearby medical center for treatment. Medical staff were unable to save his life, and he was declared deceased at the facility.

The incident occurred in a neighborhood containing residential housing and located near Sparrow Road Intermediate School.

Authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter. No further particulars have been made available to the public at this time.
