A 25-year-old male suffered severe wounds during a late-night firearm incident close to a community recreation facility in Philadelphia's East Mount Airy area, 6abc Philadelphia reports.

Law enforcement reached the 5600 block of Ardleigh Street at approximately half past midnight on Friday. Upon arrival, personnel located spent cartridges and other ballistic traces, yet the injured party was absent.

The wounded individual later appeared at Einstein Medical Center bearing injuries to his lower limbs and torso. His condition is described as life-threatening. He had been conveyed to the facility in a privately owned automobile that itself bore marks from projectiles.

Authorities are interviewing the operator of that automobile. Additionally, an eyewitness informed detectives that verbal altercation sounds preceded the discharge of weapons.

Investigators remain at work reconstructing the sequence of events. No suspects have been publicly identified at this stage.
