Towson man, 22, killed in drive-by shooting on York Road

Baltimore County police are searching for a gunman after a deadly midafternoon shooting on York Road in Towson, Maryland, wmar2news.com reports.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., officers received a call about a shooting near the York Road circle involving two northbound vehicles. Units arrived on scene within two minutes and found Nasir Majied, 22, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined that Majied was driving north on York Road when a suspect in a separate vehicle fired at him multiple times, striking him. Majied was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives are working to identify and locate the suspect. Director Lepola-Stewart said investigators are looking into whether the incident stemmed from a road rage confrontation, but are also pursuing other possible motives. Police believe each vehicle carried one occupant at the time of the shooting; it has not yet been established whether Majied returned fire.

Lepola-Stewart told reporters that Towson residents should expect a heavy police presence in the area as evening events continued. Dozens of people still attended a concert on Pennsylvania Avenue, shopping, dining, and enjoying the entertainment.

Local business owners and community leaders voiced concern following the shooting. "I pray to God that this doesn't happen again in Towson," said Patti Hall, who owns a shop near the scene. "Please stop picking on Towson. Towson is a beautiful community. Be peaceful, be polite, be nice, or leave."

Nancy Hafford, Executive Director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce, stressed the community's resolve. "We're an extremely resilient community, and we work together," Hafford said. "Almost all of our businesses have cameras. If you come here, they will catch you, and they will prosecute you."

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Baltimore County Police Department at 410-887-4636.
