Teen Charged With Assaulting Pregnant Girlfriend in San Juan

An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic abuse after allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Judge Arelys Ortiz of the San Juan Tribunal found probable cause to arrest Yamil E. González on one count of aggravated mistreatment under the island's domestic violence prevention law. The incident occurred on June 15 around 6:47 a.m., according to a police report.

Authorities allege that González pushed his partner and struck her repeatedly with his fists on the head and other parts of the body. The victim was seven months pregnant at the time of the alleged attack.

The police press office did not provide information about the victim's current condition following the assault.

González was unable to post bail set at $250,000. He was booked and transferred to Institution 705 at the Bayamón Correctional Complex, where he remains detained pending a preliminary hearing.
