A man is in custody after Raleigh police say he forced a woman into a vehicle and then crashed into a police cruiser while being pursued, wral.com reports.

Officers were called to Lake Vista Drive following a reported kidnapping. Witnesses told police they had seen a man shove a woman into a Chevrolet SUV before driving off.

Patrol units located the vehicle near Creedmoor Road. The driver, identified as Ahmad Nasser, manoeuvred the truck in circles before returning to the junction of Lake Vista Drive and Hidden Pond Drive, where he struck a Raleigh Police Department cruiser stopped in the roadway.

No injuries were reported in connection with the kidnapping, the pursuit, or the collision.

Nasser has been taken into custody and faces several charges. No date for his first court appearance has yet been confirmed.
