Memphis: Three Arrested, Converted Weapons and Narcotics Seized in Robbery Case

Officers in Memphis, Tennessee detained three individuals and confiscated altered firearms and illegal substances while probing two separate aggravated robberies, The Memphis Police Department reported.

On July 11, 2026, law enforcement located a 17-year-old sought in connection with a violent holdup on Mynders Avenue. The youth was discovered at a flat on Danville Circle. Present in the same unit was Emmanuel Ward, aged 19, whom investigators had linked to another armed robbery on South Highland Street.

With a judicial warrant, police searched the residence and found three pistols. Two had been fitted with aftermarket mechanisms — commonly called "switches" — that convert semi-automatic weapons to automatic fire. Officers also seized about 253 grams of cannabis, six oxycodone tablets, weighing equipment, and material tying the occupants to the Mynders Avenue crime.

Further inquiries showed the older minor owned the guns, controlled substances, and related equipment. Detectives also gathered proof that he and Ward jointly perpetrated the South Highland Street robbery.

Subsequently, a 16-year-old was identified as an additional participant and formally charged.
