A 25-year-old man living in San Rafael, California, faces prosecution after investigators found extensive child sexual abuse imagery stored on his mobile phone.
John Jeremiah Hernandez was placed under arrest on July 8, 2026, at his home and later transferred to Marin County Jail, the San Rafael Police Department reported.
The probe started on June 12, 2026, when police were called to Northgate One based on claims that someone was taking pictures of female minors. Officers located Hernandez nearby and confiscated his handset for digital examination.
Subsequently, detectives obtained judicial authorization to search the device. An in-depth forensic review revealed a sizable trove of child sexual abuse material.
Cases involving the exploitation of children are treated as the highest priority by police, who coordinate with partner organizations to collect evidence rapidly, safeguard victims, and ensure perpetrators are held accountable.
