At least 12 people were injured in a shooting near the Old West End Festival in Toledo, Ohio, with two of them being treated in critical condition, according to ERT.
Police forces rushed to the scene following reports of gunfire and found multiple victims with bullet wounds, announced Toledo Police.
The deputy chief of police stated that there are indications that at least two people opened fire, possibly directed at each other. Motives and circumstances of the incident have not yet been clarified, whilst police are actively searching for the suspect or suspects involved.
No information has been released to the public regarding whether the perpetrators had any connection to the festival itself.
The governor of Ohio expressed serious concern about the incident, emphasising that public events should remain safe spaces for families and citizens.
Video circulated on social media showed scenes of panic, with residents fleeing the area and emergency responders providing first aid to the injured at the scene.
The Old West End Festival is one of the most well-known local events in the area and takes place in one of the largest historic neighbourhoods in the United States. The two-day festival includes live musical performances, food markets, dining areas, guided tours of historic houses and commercial activities, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
