Gun violence claimed the life of an infant in Missouri's largest urban center on Friday, with a child now facing prosecution.

The tragedy struck at approximately four in the afternoon on North Broadway's 8400 block, situated in the northern portion of St. Louis. Emergency services received reports of discharged firearms in the vicinity.

First responders arriving at the location found a female infant who had suffered a penetrating wound from a projectile. Medical personnel transported the tiny patient to a trauma facility, where she succumbed to her injuries despite treatment efforts.

Law enforcement officials from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department identified the deceased as Kiyomi Parker.

In an extraordinary turn, detectives have leveled a first-degree homicide accusation against a male minor who has only lived a decade. Officers placed this juvenile under arrest on Friday itself.

A separate individual, a nineteen-year-old male, was also seized by police. Prosecutors are preparing to bring firearm-related accusations against this older suspect in relation to the deadly event.
