A Wilmington man was taken into custody across state lines after allegedly shooting a female acquaintance during a heated exchange, Delaware State Police reports.
Troopers were dispatched around 6:45 p.m. on July 4th to a residential block following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, emergency responders found a 35-year-old woman with a facial wound caused by a bullet.
Medics transported her to a regional hospital for treatment of serious trauma.
The inquiry revealed that the suspect, a 39-year-old male from Wilmington, allegedly fired at the victim during a verbal confrontation. Detectives secured a warrant for his apprehension.
The following day, authorities located and detained him in Pennsylvania. He will be returned to Delaware to face charges.
