A 49-year-old resident of Hampton, New Hampshire, was placed under arrest Tuesday after an extended confrontation with police that stretched across several hours and required specialized tactical intervention.

The Hampton Police Department informed the public shortly after 10 a.m. about concentrated law enforcement activity on Ann's Lane, in the vicinity of Mill Road. They characterized the matter as restricted to that particular spot and asked motorists to use alternate routes.

Officials also clarified that while officers were gathering near Hampton Academy, neither the educational facility nor the broader neighborhood faced any active threat.

Visual documentation from the location revealed armed officers alongside SWAT members outfitted with tactical gear and long guns.

Chief Alex Reno told a local news outlet that his agency had been looking into certain conduct over an extended duration, which eventually led to securing judicial authorization for warrants.

The accused, Jason J. Wagg, had sealed himself inside the property and distributed weapons at various points throughout, according to police. Officers knew about these defensive arrangements before moving in.

At roughly 2 p.m., authorities introduced a smoke-producing device into the building, which resulted in Wagg being taken into custody without further escalation.

He now faces a range of criminal accusations, including several counts of domestic violence, failure to comply with an officer's commands, obstruction of arrest, and possession of controlled substances. He remains at Rockingham County Jail while awaiting his first appearance before a judge.
