Marcin P., the president of Polish currency exchange platform Cinkciarz.pl, was arrested in the United States while attempting to enlist in the US Army. The detention occurred in Missouri, according to TVN24 reports.

The suspect had started basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood. During this initial phase, known as unitarki or boot camp, recruits have no phone access and undergo complete haircuts. The Polish national was training for an engineering position in group 12.

Sources familiar with US military procedures told Interia that completing such training would require only one weekend of service per month. More significantly, even a single day of active service could accelerate naturalization and grant American citizenship.

This development could complicate extradition proceedings. The suspect has been wanted on an Interpol Red Notice since October last year. Polish authorities suspect him of large-scale fraud and money laundering through a currency exchange company based in Lubusz Voivodeship.

The Central Bureau of Investigation announced the arrest on social media, stating the man was wanted through Interpol, a European Arrest Warrant, and national wanted lists.

Prosecutor Adrian Lewandowski from the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Poznań confirmed receiving information about the arrest through Eurojust, the EU Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation.

The investigation began in autumn 2024 when customers reported losing money after depositing funds for online currency exchanges. The CEO faces up to 25 years in prison and potentially massive fines.
