An American aerial attack targeting a speedboat carrying narcotics in the eastern Pacific Ocean left three people dead, according to an announcement by U.S. military authorities.

The Joint Command for Latin America and the Caribbean (SOUTHCOM) stated via social media that the vessel destroyed in the operation was engaged in drug trafficking activities. "Three male narcotics traffickers were killed during the action," the command reported, using its standard terminology for such missions. It also released a 15-second black-and-white video clip showing the strike.

The U.S. armed forces have been conducting aerial bombardment campaigns against speedboats in the eastern Pacific and Caribbean since September 2025. The Trump administration presents these operations as part of its "war" against cartels moving drugs from Latin America toward the American market. Last year, the president labelled various Latin American criminal groups as "terrorist" organizations.

According to official statements, more than two hundred people have died in these strikes so far.

However, the Trump administration has never presented evidence that the targeted vessels were actually involved in any illegal activity. The legality of these attacks in international and foreign waters is disputed both domestically and abroad. Non-governmental organizations and UN officials have characterized them as extrajudicial killings.
