Winston-Salem police used the parking lot of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church on Robinhood Road as a staging area to fly drones over the area following the park shooting. N.C. State Troopers were deployed in front of the Robinhood Road Family YMCA, which also served as a gathering point for parents attempting to retrieve children from nearby schools.

N.C. Highway Patrol helicopters flew over the surrounding area while officers cordoned off Leinbach Park with police tape. Agents from the ATF, SBI, and ALE were also on the scene, suiting up in vests as they arrived to assist Winston-Salem police at the perimeter.

State Trooper Kirk Batulan directed traffic at the intersection of Sally Kirk and Norman Roads, which were blocked off following the shooting. A Winston-Salem police officer made contact with residents on Sally Kirk Road as the investigation extended beyond the park itself.

Parents scrambled to reach children at Jefferson Middle School after roads in the area were closed. Mia Washington stood at the intersection of Robinhood and Norman Roads with her four-year-old daughter, Ariel, working to arrange pickup for her sister, Zbella, from Jefferson Middle School. Antinain Knight was also seen speaking with Trooper Batulan as he tried to reach his son at the same school.

Winston-Salem police established a mobile command unit at the scene. The multi-agency response — involving local police, state troopers, the SBI, ATF, ALE, and the Highway Patrol — reflected the scale of the investigation that followed the April 20 violence.

Arrests in the Leinbach Park case are ongoing. Separately, the at least seven students detained in connection with Mount Tabor High School incidents represent a further dimension of the law enforcement response in the days following the shooting.
