Report: Iran Allegedly Plotting to Assassinate Trump

The United States recently received intelligence from Israel indicating that Iran has developed a new plan to murder President Donald Trump, according to reports by Wall Street Journal and CNN.

CNN sources say the information arrived in Washington this week and includes a specific assassination plot. No further details have been made public.

Some analysts interviewed by CNN caution that the Israeli intelligence could be planted to pressure Trump into escalating military strikes against Iran.

The recent surge in attacks between the parties led to a phone call on Thursday between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In a statement after the conversation, both leaders said they had agreed on continued coordination between their countries.

Earlier in the week, Trump drew attention when he switched aircraft during a trip to the NATO summit in Turkey. He traveled there in a new Air Force One, a gift from Qatar, but returned on the older presidential plane from a British military base. According to the New York Times, the older aircraft has better missile defense and other protective features, and the switch followed a warning from the Secret Service.

Trump himself repeatedly stated on Wednesday that he tops Iran's kill list.

"They want to kill the leader of the United States — me. I'm on every list. I guess I've had a little luck so far, but maybe that won't last so long," he said at a press conference in Ankara.
