Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area where the festival was underway. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple victims. Toledo Police Deputy Chief Joseph Heffernan confirmed that twelve individuals had been shot. Two of them remain in critical condition.

Investigators believe two individuals exchanged gunfire, and stray bullets struck several others nearby. The oldest victim is sixty-one years old, while the youngest is fourteen. Most of those injured are in their twenties.

The incident occurred in the historic district of Toledo, close to the festival grounds. Authorities have not disclosed a motive or identified the shooters.
