Three Killed, Four Injured in Seattle Center Shooting
A deadly shooting erupted at Seattle Center in the heart of the city, leaving three people dead and four others wounded. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. local time on Sunday in the downtown district, which was hosting a large culinary festival that had drawn several hundred thousand attendees, according to the BBC.
Witnesses reported hearing gunfire near the popular cultural gathering place. Responding officers detained one suspect at the scene, while a second individual managed to flee and remains at large, Seattle police spokesperson Tyrone Davis said. Mayor Katie Wilson initially stated that two people had been taken into custody, though authorities later clarified that only one was formally detained. Wilson praised the police response and condemned the attack as a horrific act of violence.
Among the injured was a two-year-old child. All four wounded victims suffered gunshot injuries and were transported to a hospital, CNN reported. Two of the fatalities died at the scene, while the third succumbed to injuries after arriving at the medical facility.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are continuing to search for the second suspect.
