Three teenagers suspected of involvement in five armed carjackings, three non-fatal shootings, and a homicide were arrested in Detroit following a high-speed police pursuit that resulted in several crashes, clickondetroit.com reports.

The chase began when Michigan State Police (MSP) canine units spotted the vehicle near 8 Mile Road. The car fled when officers attempted to stop it. Four MSP troopers joined the pursuit, which at one point reached 95 mph.

The pursuit moved into the area of Hessel and Sunderland, where troopers attempted to box the vehicle in on northbound Sunderland, a dead-end road. As the car drove towards officers, an attempted PIT manoeuvre failed, causing two MSP patrol cars to collide with each other. The driver then turned onto Hessel and struck a third MSP patrol car head-on.

All three occupants were taken into custody at the scene. Police recovered two firearms inside the vehicle. The driver was an 18-year-old man; the two passengers were aged 18 and 17.

One trooper was transported to a local hospital as a precaution and was later released. No canines, other officers, or members of the public were reported injured.

Investigators at Local 4 obtained dash-cam footage from the chase, recorded from four separate police vehicles.

The Detroit Police Department (DPD) and MSP are continuing their investigation into the suspects' alleged involvement in the carjackings, shootings, and the recent homicide. No further details about the homicide case were released by authorities.
