An 18-year-old female motorist has been jailed without bail on a capital murder charge following the discovery of a deceased male near the location of an automobile wreck in Arkansas's capital city.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that law enforcement reached the 6500 block of Arch Street shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, responding to reports of a collision with someone trapped inside. Department spokesperson Mark Edwards confirmed that a lone vehicle was implicated.

Officers questioned the operator, Kadayasha Ellis, who stated that she and her companion had experienced an altercation that precipitated the crash. She claimed the passenger had run from the scene.

The passenger was subsequently identified as Tony Harper, 35, residing in North Little Rock. Over ten hours after the initial call, officers located Harper's remains in nearby woodland. Investigators concluded Ellis caused his death.

The precise manner of death has yet to be disclosed, and the probe continues. Edwards stated Monday morning that no further information would be released at this time.

Ellis was placed in custody at Pulaski County's detention facility. She remains held with no bail amount established.
