Memphis woman confesses to fatal abuse of 3-year-old boy
A 29-year-old Memphis woman has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated child neglect following the death of 3-year-old Kevin Horton, according to actionnews5.com.
Police responded to a call just after 3 a.m. on November 15 at the 4200 block of Beacon Hills Road, where the child's father found the boy unresponsive. Kevin was pronounced dead at the scene.
Domnica Mosby, identified as the father's girlfriend, initially told investigators she had put the child to bed after he fell ill. She later confessed to homicide investigators that she had subjected Kevin to severe physical abuse. According to court records, she placed a lit cigarette in his ear and burned his genitals after he urinated on the floor. She also admitted to repeatedly beating, stomping, and striking him on the torso and chest when he did not comply with her instructions.
The medical examiner ruled the death a homicide. An autopsy revealed lacerations to the liver, internal bleeding in the stomach, bruising across the torso, and burns to the ear and genitals.
The child's aunt told investigators she had previously noticed injuries on Kevin.
Mosby is currently held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
