Bank of America VP Erin Piacenti Killed in Times Square Stabbing

Erin Piacenti, 32, a Bank of America vice president, was fatally stabbed in Times Square on Monday. The suspect, Pamela Cisneros, was shot dead by police after refusing to drop her knives.

Lohud.com reports that the New York Police Department has identified the woman fatally stabbed in Times Square on Monday as Erin Piacenti, 32, of Chester, New Jersey — a vice president of business selection and conflicts at Bank of America.

Piacenti was stabbed in the abdomen on Seventh Avenue at approximately 4:25 p.m. and was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital. A second victim, a 68-year-old man, was also stabbed within roughly 20 seconds of the attack on Piacenti. He was taken to hospital and listed in stable condition; his name has not been released.

Bank of America issued a written statement to the media: "We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones."

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the incident as an "unprovoked double stabbing." The woman accused of carrying out the attacks was identified as Pamela Cisneros, 49, of Queens.

Tisch said Cisneros had a documented mental health history with the NYPD, including recorded incidents in 2018 and 2019, though she had not been arrested in connection with those incidents.

Officers encountered Cisneros on Seventh Avenue and spoke with her for approximately four minutes, repeatedly ordering her to drop the two knives she was carrying. She refused. According to Tisch, Cisneros told officers: "I'm not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you." She also repeatedly stated, "I will kill you."

Officers deployed Tasers as Cisneros advanced toward them with the knives, but the devices proved ineffective. Two officers then discharged their service weapons, striking Cisneros. She was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she died from her injuries. Both knives were recovered at the scene.

NYPD Commissioner Tisch and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani expressed condolences to the victims' families. "We know that those families' lives have been shattered by what took place today, and we will continue to hold them close as the hours and days and weeks continue from this moment," Mamdani said at an evening press conference.

The NYPD's investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
